Technical Limits of Passivity-Based Control Gains for a Single-Phase Voltage Source Inverter

Passivity-based control (PBC) seems to be predicted for the algorithms in voltage source inverters (VSI) backup systems. This paper presents limitations of improved (IPBC) version PBC (directly measuring output voltage) maximum and current gains. In a microprocessor-controlled inverter, these depend on PWM modulator dynamic properties, switching frequency, modulation index value (avoiding saturation enabling rapid increase filter inductor current), parameters VSI filter. A single period delay digital was considered theoretical calculations based discrete inverter model. The simulations standard nonlinear rectifier RC load enabled initial adjustment IPBC border gains, which depended frequency. Some small harmonics oscillations were acceptable test or load. However, increased power losses coil core. Experimental verification simulation results using laboratory model is also presented.
